Greetings from New York

My meet up with Hattan Man went very well! We walked over to Zabar’s, which is a fresh supermarket on the Upper West Side, chatted over coffee and relived old times! It was quite nice. He even recalled our very first meet up and how whenever he was called upon to stop me from robbing a building of some sort, he would act as if he was busy.
Neither him nor I settled with anyone, and at this point I sometimes feel as if it is too late, but I wish a little bit that him and I ended up together. At this point it seems that the only possibility is to have a platonic friendship.
So we walked over to Central Park and discussed what we’ve been doing since our retirement.
He established a small gym in the city and many different fitness videos, he was still in pretty good shape despite his age.
I definitely pulled the short straw when it comes to how I turned out, I will say karma plays a large part in that…

After parting with Hattan I made my way towards midtown to see Times Square, its been years since I’ve seen it. They still have the classic coca cola ad there, which reminds me. I was once asked to model as one of the coca cola pin up girls, of course they did not know that I was the infamous Belt Buckler. I am still at a loss as to how in my wintering years, I’ve managed to disappear into oblivion when I was once not only a successful villain, but also a model, who (not to mention) dated the most revered superhero in New York City.
I should get going, I didn’t spend all this money on a trip to New York to just blog and reminisce about the past!

That was one of the paintings of me from the 1950's, enjoy!

Just checked into my hotel and gave Hattan Man a call, he seemed just as pleasant as the day we were together. I can’t wait to meet up with him, it really makes me feel young again. I remember the first time I met him...
It was 1950, I was 18 and I had just started my villainous career, even though villainous isn’t exactly the correct word to describe me or my career. I only began to do it to help support myself and my family, it just later became a sport.
Anywho, my father had just been laid off and my mother, like many women, weren’t in the workforce at the time. I decided to change that up a bit and help out my parents, after all they had supported me for 18 years this was the least I could do to repay them. I also was not married and was not planning on it any time soon (this was where my mother and I disagreed).
I decided to test my skills is conning and stealing at a njght bar. I arrived in normal clothes, careful not to arise suspicion.
There he was, sitting at the bar with a beer in his hand, Hattan had about five years on me. Well, there he was, sitting at the bar with a cool mug of beer in his hand chatting with the barkeep. I stared in awe, to this day I think to myself, “There is no one as handsome as that man.”
He slowly got up, saying goodnight to the man behind the counter and as he walked towards the door saying goodbye to everyone along the way, he stumbled into me. As quickly as he bumped into me, he gave a chivalrous bow and apologized and introduced himself. In all his glory and that silly uniform, there he was Hattan Man, introducing himself and giving me a little bow.
Speechless, I stood there, he asked for my name and asked if he could buy me a drink. What else could I have said, other than yes.
Hattan was the most interesting, charming man I had ever met then, and even now and I never even knew his real name.
He thanked me for my company after one drink and told me he had to get going but to keep in touch.
Only moments after he left did I manage to commit an unarmed robbery of that very same bar, by merely sweet talking the barkeep, I made out better than a bandit.
That night was probably the best night of my life, for two reasons.
Well, I hope you enjoyed that peephole into my past, I’m going to get some rest. I have a big day tomorrow in the city with Hattan.

This was the bar that myself and Hattan often met up at. (I am in the pearl necklace)

Blog from the flight

I’m writing this from the plane, and I plan on posting it once I get internet again in New York. I’ll be flying into John F Kennedy airport and taking a taxi and staying in a hotel on the Upper West Side right near the Gugghenheim.
I must say, JetBlue is definately the way to fly! I have never had such service. They have little television screens for everyone passenger, imagine that! I cannot believe this is the day and age we are flying it, and to think I used to take US Airways, never again! And the service, don’t get me started, JetBlue has the most hospitable attendants.
Right now, I’m watching the Golden Girls on the screen, only really paying half the attention I should be. So I will update once I get to New York!

Surprise trip to New York!

First off, I’d like to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers! I just had a little feast among myself and my cats, I watched the parade, and the National Dog Show afterward. Seeing the parade run through New York made me very nostalgic, so I decided to book a last minute trip over there for a few days.
Maybe I’ll even meet up with a couple of my old arch enemies (I’m sure we could put our differences aside for an hour of coffee), I’m curious to see what they decided to do with their life after putting away the old masks and spandex underpants.
I’m posting here a list of the people who I’d like to meet up with once I arrive in the city:
Hattan Man - This guy was the big shot in New York city around my time of crime. He did what he could to fight any wrong-doings on the island. Despite our titles as arch enemies, we had a secret-forbidden love affair at some point. Luckily we were both masked, so no one truly knew of our relationship. Part of our titles as “arch-enemies” came from the fact that we knew we could never defeat each other. Once he arrived at the scene, he almost turned a blind eye, and let my escape happen. Oh how we would joke about it...
Its a surprise to me that we have gone so many years without speaking, I can’t even remember if we had a falling out. But I was the one villain who seemed to be undefeatable by Hattan. Last I heard of him, he decided to start his own small gym in the city, I wonder if he’s still in the same shape he used to be..
Officer Kaparenos - Little did this cop know, we lived right next door to each other. I’m not sure if he even suspects it to this day, he was quite handsome and asked me out on a couple of dates. Unfortunately, I had enough talk of ‘justice’ and ‘the right way’ when I dated Hattan, so I repeatedly had to shoot him down. I’m excited to see whether he knew that the Belt Buckler was living right next door to him!
Caped Steel - Caped Steel was merciless. He was a very corrupt hero who actually had two aliases. I would often see him in the underground bars where many of the villains I hung around with were. But at the same time, he had a history of being very extreme when punishing the villains. I never really liked the guy, but I would like to see if he has changed at all.

Everyone have a happy Thanksgiving!

Do dreams mean anything?

Hello, readers!
Last night I had the most interesting dream. I was young, probably in my twenties and in the Big City, I was just leaving the bank after depositing a check, when suddenly I looked back and saw cash pouring out the front door. The wind had picked up a one hundred dollar bill and one landed right in my hand. Another gust of wind then started pushing me towards the bank. As I stumbled forward, I looked down and attempted to establish some footing so I wouldn’t topple over.
The next thing I knew, I was wearing my trademark Belt Buckler uniform. For those of you who don’t know what my costume looks like, it’s a satin red corset with a matching skirt and garter belts with two B’s on a little brooch on each.
In this dream of mine, I did not seem familiar with the costume I was now donning , nevertheless, I decided to stop fighting against the wind and began stepping toward the bank.
I’ve always been an avid believer in dreams, so this dream left me quite perplexed. Could it mean that I should not have parted with my crimeful ways? Should I get off my mahjong playing behind and do something more exciting in my autumn years? I’m not saying that necessarily means to return to a life of robbing and buglaring, I mean, it would be quite ridiculous almost embarrassing even for the cops if they were to ever arrest me. This old frump of a woman trying to rob a major bank while standing her in Spanx form fitters (I would not dare put on the costume I was once able to wear). As I’ve said before, I am no longer the stealth felinelike woman I once was, the arrest would be the easiest thing for the cops ever.
I’m just trying to think of what this dream could have possibly meant. I think I may see a psychic about it.

Hey Readers!

Hello, there readers, friends, arch nemeses, etc..!
If you are reading my blog, you must be at least a little interested in the life of a retired super villain. You must be taking a double-take at this moment, and be thinking to yourself, “Villains blog?” Well, I am no longer a villain, I’m far too old for my bad ways. I was in my prime too many years ago for my to practice that life style any longer and I am trying to get accustomed to the ever changing ways of technology.
My first step was learning about computers. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that there is even such thing as DSL, which apparently allows you to have internet virtually all the time! Imagine that?! When I was growing up we had books, magazines and the occasionally radio show. The kids these days have it all.
Anywho, if you don’t already know who I am I am Linda Earney. If that name doesn’t ring a bell at all yet, maybe the Belt Buckler does. Yes, I am the infamous Belt Buckler, the famous cat burglar. Back in the day, I was able to steal not only the hearts of heros and every day civilians alike, but also their money, gems and jewels.
I have since retired to more quiet ways like playing MahJong and watching the Golden Girls and now blogging and learning about computers. I refuse to be a person of the older generations who are stuck in the stone age and don’t know a single thing about technology, but in no way am I someone who is “up-to-date” with it all.
Well now that you’re at least a little bit acquainted with me, I’ll begin telling you about my day. I apologize now if I digress to flashbacks of my days full of crime and youth, I just miss certain things about those years so much.
This morning waking up was quite the task, I felt my bones aching a little more than usual. Another reminder of my age and how limiting time is. I’m thinking of getting into some exercising techniques. The women in my housing complex all go down to the community pool to do this thing called, “Waterobics” It seems a bit silly, but interesting. I guess I’ll give it a try, it apparently helps your muscles and bones greatly. I’ll try anything if it makes me feel a little younger and healthier.
This all reminds me that I have to see the doctor for the general check up. I remember being young and in shape, I was quite the looker. Everything sat where it was supposed to, my skin wasn’t saggy, nor was anything else. My looks were my super villain powers, really! I was able to distract any bank guard, tie him up, and get away with items that filled vaults quicker than anyone could remember. I guess I am paying for my crime with how my appearance has taken a turn for the worse. But hey, I guess that happens to everyone way before they reach 77.

Thanksgiving is coming up this weekend, my mother and father, Judy and Mike, passed away some time ago and since I was such a flirt back in the day, I never seemed to settle with one man and start a family at all. Unfortunately for me, I am all alone for the holidays, except for my cats. Every one of my friends here who I play mahjong with are having their kids and grandkids visit them for the holidays. One of them, Lorraine, invited me to come over, which is sweet of her, but I’d hate to intrude. I think I’ll have a quiet afternoon and watch the old parade, it reminds me of my days in New York...
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I hadn’t chosen a life of crime, I guess its too late now. I mean, I was never exactly captured and imprisoned, but relationship-wise, I would probably have a full family with grandchildren, which can make you feel a bit warm, even the thought of it.
I must head out to go food shopping, I’ve ran out of rice pudding and must stock up on some more, I hope you’ll be reading more of my blog!
